Second Saturday Music at the Ozark Heritage Arts Center

The OHAC is starting ‘Second Saturday Music’ : Starting March 13th at 7:30 pm. “In Cahoots” is the featured house band. Please come and show your support of the OHAC and local musicians!

Christmas Fair Schedule of Events

“Visions of Sugarplums,” a Christmas Fair in Leslie, Arkansas will be held this Saturday, December 5, from 2pm to 7pm. The fair is sponsored by the Leslie Area Merchants Association, Arts and Heritage Committee, and Leslie Homecoming Committee.

Many local merchants are extending their hours, offering sales, open houses, and free refreshments. But first, make sure and stop by the festival headquarters on Oak Street, where programs of the fair, information, and hot apple cider will be available. The headquarters is also host to local crafts and artisans booths, a mini-craft fair. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a fun day in Leslie!

There are a variety of scheduled events (programs and information will be available at Festival Headquarters on Oak Street).

  • Santa in the park, Sponsored by Simmons First Bank, 2pm-3pm (City Park)
  • Literacy Council book reading, 2pm-5pm (Lit. Council – Main Street)
  • Christmas Craft Fair, 2pm-7pm ( Festival Hdqtrs, 219 Oak St.)
  • Wagon Rides, Start at 3pm  (City Park)
  • Live Music, Starts at 3:30pm (City Park)
  • Live Nativity Scene, 5pm-7pm (Hwy 66, Methodist Church)

In addition, there will be a raffle, decorating contests, and a punch-card game; get more information at Festival Headquarters on Oak St.

  • Punch-card game drawing, 6:35pm
  • Decorating Contest Winners announced, 6:45pm

Most of the following participating merchants will be open until 7 pm, and many are holding sales, open houses, and free refreshments. A program with further details will be available free of charge at the Christmas Fair Headquarters on Oak Street, where the craft booths will also be located.

  • Leslie Café – Open till 8pm, offering a Shrimp dinner for $7.25.
  • Old Mercantile Antiques – Open house with refreshments.
  • Cove Creek Emporium – Sale, open house with refreshments.
  • Derickson’s Lumber – Door prizes. Sale on rocking chairs and power tools. Open house with refreshments.
  • Killebrew House – Free cookies & hot cocoa. Music on the porch.
  • L.A. Salon – 25% off all wallets & handbags, open house with refreshments.
  • Exotic Cuts – 25% off products only, open house with refreshments.
  • Country Flowers & Gifts – 25% off sale (excludes Ty products and funeral silks), open house with refreshments.

Christmas Fair Festivities December 5

Spend the afternoon and evening in Leslie, and get some Christmas shopping done early while supporting local businesses. From 2pm to 7pm, The Leslie Christmas Fair will be held in Downtown Leslie.

Local businesses will be holding sales and open houses with refreshments, there will be a craft fair on Oak Street with free warm cider and cookies, and there will be games from local merchants. The Fair Headquarters is also on Oak Street.

There will be Christmas decorating contests held with Business and Residential categories. At various times throughout the fair, there will be music, wagon rides, a raffle, a live nativity scene, and Santa will be in the park. Times for these specific events will soon be announced.

The Leslie Christmas fair is hosted by the Leslie Area Merchants Association and the Arts and Heritage Committee.

Leslie Christmas Fair on December 5, 2009

Save the Date!
Get ready for the 1st annual Leslie Christmas Fair December 5, 2009 hosted by the Leslie Area Merchants Association and the Arts & Heritage committee. Activities will last from 2pm-7pm and include Santa in the park, hay rides, local craft booths as well as sales, open houses, and games from our local merchants! Christmas decorating contests will be held for both business and residential, and free warm cider and cookies will be available! Don’t forget to mark your calendars and we’ll keep you posted as more details develop! Anyone wishing to setup a crafts booth please contact 870 504 1034 or email lesliearts@yahoo.com.

Arts & Crafts Festival Friday and Saturday

The second annual Autumn in the Ozarks Arts and Crafts Festival, sponsored by the Buffalo River Artisans’ Guild, will be held from 9 AM until 5 PM on October 23 and 24 at the EH Building on the Searcy County Fairgrounds in Marshall. The festival will showcase the many talents and workmanship of local artists and artisans.

A nice variety of holiday gift items such as fine art prints and originals in acrylics, oils and watercolors, photo art, quilts, jewelry, wooden lathe-turned bowls, decorated gourds, handmade soaps and candles, and hand-knit and crocheted goods will be offered from some 20 different exhibitors. Besides ongoing demonstrations by local watercolor, acrylic and oil artists, there will be demonstrations in wool spinning, felting, wood carving, wood turning and gourd decorating throughout the event.

Short workshops in bead making, jewelry making, rock painting, and paper and fiber arts will be offered throughout the 2-day event. These workshops will be free or at a very nominal cost to both adults and youth.

Food will be available for purchase on the festival site. The Kiwanis Club of Searcy County will be preparing lunch on Friday, and the Loafers Glory church will be preparing lunch on Saturday.

2010 Market Opening!

     The 2010 Ozark Mountain Market opening kicks off April 24 from 10am-2pm. Live fiddling, fresh produce, seeds, plants, chicks, bunnies, eggs, baked goods, crafts and much more! Vendor set up is free so let us know if your interested! We hope everyone can make it!
